In addition to learning from our own research, the Maasheggen has plenty to learn from other biosphere areas in the world. The network of UNESCO consists of over 650 biosphere areas across 120 countries. These areas are a valuable source of inspiration for the Maasheggen. During one of the biyearly UNESCO congresses, representatives of the Maasheggen have made their first contact with other biosphere reserves. In the coming years we expect to further strengthen the exchange of the knowledge with other biosphere areas in the UNESCO network.
